Founders Advises Chandler/May on Recapitalization
Founders Investment Banking, LLC is pleased to announce that Chandler/May, Inc. (“CMI”) has completed a recapitalization by Washington, D.C.-based Arlington Capital Partners, a private equity firm with over $800 million of committed capital and a focus on the aerospace/defense sector. Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, CMI is a systems integrator that specializes in the design, development and integration of high value-add electronic components and subsystems. As a single source solutions provider, CMI builds mission critical applications for a variety of uses in the defense, aerospace, telecommunication and industrial markets. With specialized domain knowledge in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market, the Company has become a key supplier and outsourcing partner for its industry-leading, blue-chip customers.
Founders Investment Banking acted as the exclusive advisor to CMI’s shareholders in the transaction. “This investment solution is a great indication of the opportunities available for companies in Alabama and beyond to access alternative forms of capital in the broader markets. We were able to structure a solution that addressed the specific, multi-faceted needs of the shareholders, including assisting them in realizing personal liquidity, maintaining ownership for realization of future additional upside and identifying a partner to provide capital for additional growth initiatives and acquisitions, while also using their industry experience to help the company achieve further growth,” indicated Duane Donner, Managing Director of Founders Investment Banking.
The founders and senior management team will utilize Arlington’s investment and support to further accelerate the Company’s growth. “Founders took the time to understand all of the goals we were trying to accomplish with this transaction, and worked extremely hard to deliver a solution that fully met our unique needs,” said co-founder Jesse May. “In Arlington, they identified an ideal partner with the commitment and experience of investing in aerospace and defense. We are excited by the opportunities before us and look forward to leveraging Arlington’s relationships and knowledge base. Our end-markets are experiencing tremendous growth and our partnership with Arlington will ensure that we have the appropriate resources and the capital to better serve our customers and to grow on both an organic basis and through add-on acquisitions.”
