The question that most likely brought you here is, “What’s it like to work at Founders?” Well, that’s a tough question. But there are some fundamental truths about working here that can begin to answer it.
Firstly, we’re not what most people would picture when they think of an investment bank. We’re a boutique shop that’s located just off Wall Street. About 966 miles off Wall Street, to be exact, in what we consider to be a boutique city, Birmingham, Alabama. We mention the location specifically because it plays a big part in our company’s cultural makeup.
While these traits may be ubiquitous to many regions, we adhere to certain values that we believe to be inherently southern—principles which dictate that respect is earned, listening comes before speaking, and hard work is just something we simply call work.
But those are just a few insights into what we’re about. To truly experience what it’s like to work here, your best approach would be speaking with one of us on the phone, or, hopefully, face to face. Because the most accurate depiction of what it’s like at Founders Advisors—what really makes us who we are—is our people.
We’ve been in this business long enough to know the revolving-door mentality of institutional investment banks. These companies often put too much value on appearances and outdated traditions, and tend to view analysts as cogs in the machine, rather than valued team members.
At Founders, our approach is quite different. We see ourselves as more of a springboard. A company that rewards talent over pageantry. A group of individuals who will work with you on an individual level to help propel your career—whether it’s from within Founders itself, or to better position yourself to go on to other successful endeavors.
It really comes down to one thing—we care about you. And not just about what you can do for us, but about what we can do for your career, your family, and both your professional and personal growth. These are more than just words on a page, they are a promise that we consistently fulfill through actions. From personal growth initiatives and reflection trips that we call Solos, to ongoing professional development through intentional mentoring, all of us at Founders care about, well, all of us at Founders.
That positive support even extends to individuals who go on to pursue different paths outside of Founders. To our knowledge, we’re the only investment bank that gives out awards to those who no longer work for us. We call it the Bullpen Hall of Fame—a yearly award going to former team members that have continued to excel and embody the principles instilled in them while they were here.
At Founders, we have found that the greatest way to help our clients succeed, is to help our own do the same.
Founders main office is located in Birmingham, Alabama. While our growing city has received a great many national accolades over recent years, we understand that not everyone is familiar with the city that we call home. But in lieu of us selling you on our home town, we would rather defer to the professional storytellers and all-things-Birmingham experts over at the Birmingham Conventions and Visitors Bureau. And if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll tell you everything we find magical about The Magic City.
Our Summer Analysts program is an excellent opportunity for young analysts looking for real world experience in investment banking. The 8-10 week program is perfect for those seeking an in-depth look into industry research, financial statement analysis, and buyer research. The program, which spans from June to early August, provides accepted candidates with a comprehensive view of this industry, and gives them a hands-on training experience that is second to none.
At Founders, we’re always in search of great talent. If you think you’d be a good fit here, then we’d love to talk. If we find that the feeling is mutual, we’ll work to find the perfect opportunity for you.
