In just a few short weeks school will start back at Restoration Academy, and the Founders team wanted to help prepare them for another successful school year. Restoration Academy was started in 1988 by Dr. Anthony Gordon in response to divisive forces such as crime and violence that had ensnared many of the young people at his church and in his community. The school makes a quality and Christ-centered education available to children in grades K5 – 12 and is breaking generational cycles of poverty, violence, addiction, and fatherlessness in Fairfield and the greater Birmingham area.

The school employs an excellent staff, but there is only so much time during summer break for them to get ready for the first day. We came in to help lighten their load and knock off a few items on their wish list.  We had crews painting in the gym, trimming hedges and weed eating around the entire campus, moving furniture, painting the parking lot, and helping set up the new high school art room. Our team was also able to clean up the adjacent Fairfield Memorial Park. In recent years the city has been unable to maintain the park and the school often uses it during recess. After all this hard work, the crew headed over to Moe’s in Lakeview for some delicious food and fellowship.
