According to Capital IQ and Founders’ proprietary sources, M&A and private placement activity in the third quarter of 2019 increased 1.6% versus the same quarter in the previous year. M&A and private placement activity was down 1% quarter over quarter. Transaction activity in the Dallas – Fort Worth market continues to be diversified with Industrial and Consumer Discretionary representing the top two sectors by volume. Overall, there were an estimated 122 transactions involving companies from the Dallas – Fort Worth area completed in the third quarter of 2019. Most of the transactions were sub $50 million in enterprise value, except for a few larger transactions, such as Ambit Energy Holding’s acquisition by Vistra Energy Corp (NYSE:VST) for $475 million.
